Creating with Care: Why sustainability matters to us

How and why we care for our environment

At Reconnect and Create, nature is more than a backdrop to our events.

It is our inspiration.
Our teacher.
Our responsibility.

Everything we do is shaped by a deep respect for the natural world — and a belief that creativity and sustainability should walk hand in hand.

A Gentle Approach to Making

We believe that beautiful things don’t need to come at the expense of the planet.

That’s why so many of our workshops embrace the principles of reuse, repurpose, and recycle. Everyday items that might otherwise be thrown away — glass jars, plastic bottles, egg cartons, cardboard packaging — are transformed into meaningful, thoughtful creations.

There is something quietly powerful about turning “waste” into something cherished.

It reminds us that nothing is truly disposable.
Everything has potential.

Choosing Materials with Care

Wherever possible, we choose environmentally responsible supplies for our sessions.

This includes:

  • Vintage / pre-loved tea sets sourced from charity shops

  • Eco-friendly glitter

  • Low-impact and eco resin

  • Sustainable craft materials

  • Long-lasting, reusable tools

  • Wind fallen wood, or wood that has had to be cut down by a tree surgeon

We prioritise quality over quantity, and we are always exploring new ways to reduce our environmental footprint while maintaining the high standards our guests deserve.

Reducing Waste, Naturally

Behind the scenes, sustainability guides our everyday choices.

We aim to:

  • Minimise single-use plastics

  • Reduce unnecessary packaging

  • Reuse leftover materials

  • Recycle responsibly

  • Limit paper use through digital communication

Many materials find new life in future workshops, and nothing is wasted without careful thought.

Respecting the Spaces That Hold Us

Our events often take place in beautiful natural settings — woodlands, gardens, rural retreats, and open landscapes.

We treat these spaces with care.

We follow a “leave no trace” approach, ensuring that we protect habitats, respect wildlife, and leave each place just as we found it — or better.

Nature gives us so much.
Looking after it is the least we can do.

Sustainability Through Food and Community

When we provide food, we aim to be just as mindful.

We favour seasonal ingredients where possible, minimise food waste, and use reusable or compostable serving materials. Every detail is considered with care — because wellbeing includes caring for the world around us.

And sustainability isn’t something we keep to ourselves.

It’s something we love to share.

Through our workshops, conversations, and creative practices, we gently encourage guests to take ideas home — to see everyday objects differently, to craft more mindfully, and to make small changes that add up over time.

Small Actions, Lasting Impact

We don’t claim to be perfect.

Sustainability is a journey — and we are always learning, growing, and adapting.

But we are committed.

Committed to:

  • Making thoughtful choices

  • Supporting ethical suppliers

  • Reducing our impact

  • Inspiring positive change

One workshop at a time.

One reused jar at a time.

One mindful moment at a time.

Creating a Kinder Future Together

For us, sustainable creativity isn’t a trend.

It’s a way of living.
A way of teaching.
A way of caring.

When you join a Reconnect and Create event, you’re not just making something beautiful — you’re becoming part of a community that values kindness, connection, and care for the world we share.

And that matters.

More than ever.
